Sometimes operated as two“smaller” 11 car trains, the AOE offered luxury toursaround the country aboard finely refurbished rail cars.Amtrak suppled the locomotives for the train.Gleaming blue, cream, and gold paint on the outsideonly hinted at the opulence within. The train includeda variety of very deluxe sleeping accommodations,lounge and dining cars and dome seating. Excursionsoffered a cruise-like experience with sightseeingfrom the train and stops along the way. With routes allaround the country, the beautiful train could show upalmost anywhere.
